The mixed rye bread gets a mildly sour taste from the addition of your home-grown rye sourdough. The high proportion of rye means that the bread is quite firm in consistency and has a compact mouthfeel.

The mixed rye bread tastes best freshly sliced with some hummus as a spread

and a slice of Black Forest ham with a few roasted pine nuts

is sprinkled. As a drink, I recommend a local rhubarb spritzer.
